Rasam Powder (ரசம் போடி, రసం పొడి, रसम पाउडर) Charu Podi is a traditional south Indian mix of whole coriander and cumin seeds spiced up with black pepper.

Regional Dish : Tamilnadu; Andhra; Karnataka; Kerala; South india and some places in North India.

Cuisine Style : Tamilnadu | Preperation Time 15 minutes | Take it as powder with rasam | Type powder | Shelf Life : 1 month.

Ingredients :

  • Pepper   (Milagu)  50 gms
  • Cumin seeds ( Jeeragam)  50 gms
  • Red gram dal (Thuvaram parupu)  1/2 cup
  • Red chillies  (Kaintha milagai)  20 nos
  • Fenugreek seeds  (Vendayam)  5 table spoons
  • Coriander seeds  (Dhaniya)  5 table spoons

Method :

  1. Fry each of the ingredients separately in a pan/kadai .
  2. Allow it to cool off.
  3. Grind them in a mixie. Powder should not be too soft.
