Panakam Vada Pappu (పానకం వడపప్పు) is a festive and traditional recipe that is prepared in Andhra Pradesh on Sri Rama Navami. As this festival comes during summer time, panakam is prepared and enjoyed, it is a body cooler and thirst quencher along with this vada pappu is also prepared. These two along with chalimidi are offered to god as naivedyam.

Calories (30 kcal), Carbohydrates (5 g), Protein (2 g), Fat (0.1 g).

Ingredients:

  • 2 glasses of water
  • 3 tbsp. of grated jaggery
  • 1/4 tsp of cardamom powder
  • 10 pepper corns coarsely crushed
  • Pinch of dry ginger powder (optional)

Method:

Take a big mixing bowl add all the ingredients and combine well, so that the jaggery gets dissolved completely.

Either drink as such or refrigerate for few hours and enjoy

Vada pappu is prepared by soaking 2 tbsp. of  split washed yellow green gram dal/ moong dal (pesara pappu) in water for half an hour and strained.
