Appe huli ( Raw Mango Rasam)  is a sweet and spicy raw mango rasam. This rasam is famous in Karnataka. This dish is perfectly suited for  any kind of weather . It has such a soothing effect for the throat.

  • 1 cup raw mango pieces
  • 1 tsp. jaggery
  • 1 tsp.Oil
  • 1/2 tsp. mustard seeds
  • 2 green chilies
  • 2 red chilies
  • A pinch asafetida
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • Salt


  1. Cook the mango pieces in water. Grind it to a paste.
  2. Cook the paste with jaggery, salt and water. Add enough water to bring it to a consistency of rasam.
  3. Heat oil and add mustard seeds. When they start popping, add curry leaves, green chilies, red chilies and asafoetida.
  4. Add this to the dish and serve with rice.

Variatons: Add finely sliced onion pieces. Add some pepper powder.Add  coconut milk

    Thanks for sharing. I was looking for the recipe, even though I thought of the ingredients Jaggery, salt and mango, I was confused by the other recipes found on net.

    This one was perfect.

    Recently I went India my mom made this Appehuli .It’s so tasty that I wanted to make today .But confused about recipe. But I got it from net .Thank you so much for sharing .
